Our vision
Eldos FM will be the catalyst for change in the community as it relates to: Youth development, unemployment/poverty alleviation, education/literacy, social and cultural relevance/transformation, so that a positive image of Eldorado Park is created. We achieve this by being more audible, visible and accessible through responsible broadcasting whilst having FUN !
Background and Staffing
- We employ 4 permanent staff and 40 voluntary on-air staff
- Eldos FM is operated by a section 21 company (incorporated not for gain) and governed by a board of directors from our immediate catchment area.
Our Objectives
Eldos FM seeks:
- To engage in dialogue with the community about the social issues facing the community;
- To be the platform for community relevant information, especially around citizenship;
- To act as a medium to bridge the cultural divide and mirror diversity;
- To empower the youth of the community and surrounding areas by giving them hands-on training in radio and broadcast skills;
- To become a source of skills development for the media industry;
- To instill a culture of volunteerism and social entrepreneurship;
- To play a part in alleviating the setback of illiteracy and poor numeracy skills by providing educational programming in partnership with educational institutions for both children and adult population; and
- To reduce the level of drug abuse and violence on women and children by discouraging it on radio.
